Bar’s Choir “Zima”, the ecumenical choir of the Co-Cathedral of St. Peter in Bar, is returning home from Kikinda after a successful performance at the fourth “Melodianum” — the International Festival of Choral Music organized by the Cultural Center of the City of Kikinda. This year’s festival was a revue, with nine choirs taking part. In addition to choirs from the host country, Choir “Zima” and guests from Romania also participated. “Zima” was awarded the festival’s Golden Plaque.
Members of Choir “Zima”, which performs under the direction of conductor Varvara Loyko with instrumental accompaniment by Nikita Loyko and Yegor Staranov, expressed satisfaction that the performance was recognized with an award, but they emphasize as even more important the new choral and vocal experience and the many new friendships they made.

Besides the concert program, the festival also featured workshops for singers and conductors, mentored by Prof. Dr. Bogdana Đaković and Prof. Dr. Agota Vitkai Kučer. Participants enjoyed the chance to sing together, and the festival choir numbered more than 150 singers.

“The choir thanks Prof. Dr. Biljana Jeremić for the outstanding organization and comprehensive support; acting director of the Kikinda Cultural Center, Marko Markovljev; and Tibor Hudini for coordinating the choir during its stay in Kikinda. The choir is also very grateful to the Archdiocese of Bar and especially Monsignor Rrok Gjonlleshaj, the Municipality of Bar, the NGO “Montenegrin Choral Association” — CHA, and its president Nada Karadžić, all choir members, and accompanists Dmitry Grinikh, Tatyana Argal and Tatyana Grigoryeva, whose support enables the ensemble’s professional growth and helps the choir advance and flourish,” Choir “Zima” says, adding that auditions for choir membership are held throughout the year.
